5th July 2009
Warsop Carnival was a great success once again, a very busy day
in the refreshment marquee but supported well by local people and
an amazing fundraising event for the beginning of President Anne's
year.

Thursday 16th July
President Anne and 11 members enjoyed a walk around Boon hills
Farm, home of Lesley and Doug Palmer.
They were later joined by 10 more members to view the Flower
Festival at Holy cross Church and have lunch at Langwith Bassett
Community Hall

Induction Day at Mansfield Civic Centre.

Knit and Natter group at the home of Overseas officer, Lesley
Palmer making blankets, joy and toy bags.

9th August 2009
The garden party at the home of President Anne and Phil Lyons
was a huge success making a profit in excess of £1300 for
Rainbows Hospice.
70 people attended, the food was served by Rotarians Mike
Maloney and Rob Pasierb, Drinks were served by Robert Lyons and
the weather was perfect!

13th August 2009
15 members and friends walked around Teversal Village and the
surrounding area.
Later they were joined by more members for a superb lunch at
the home of Sue and Richard Goad

2nd September 2009
President Anne inducted Jan Strachan as an honorary member, we
all look forward to having Jan as a member.
Our speaker this month was Sue Billings who gave an interesting
talk on the Vicardale Flock of rare breed sheep that live on
Vicars Water, Clipstone. Sue showed us how to spin the wool
into yarn, some members had a go.

3rd September 2009
President Anne along with a few members walked from the home of
Gloria Humphrey along the River Meden, through Edwinstowe and
finally lunch at the Forest Lodge.

Overseas Sandwich Lunch at the home of Gloria Humphrey.
This event was supported by District Chairman, Mary Pay, Vice
President of the Association, Pam McConnell, District Overseas Officer, Anne
Cottee and many members from local clubs.
Gloria had also been given a lot of "sample" bras
which she sold for £1 each in aid of Breast Cancer.

Ball" at the John Fretwell Centre with 3 other members and
husbands

28th September 2009 Our joint annual fashion show was held at
the Hostess Restaurant as usual, the event made a profit of £630,
split equally between Rainbows Hospice and Sue Walkers charity The
League of Friends |

7th October 2009 NSPCC Lunch held at Portland College Mansfield
President Anne attended with members; Jan Strachan, Sue Goad,
Lesley Palmer, Gloria Humphrey, Christine Fretwell, Lynne Goff and
Janie Waterfield. |

Wendy Richards and Heather Harvey from the dietician Dept at
Kings mill Hospital came to talk to us about "Eating for Health" |

9th October 2009 Bra Sale for Breast Cancer - new bras from well
known high street stores were donated to us to sell for charity,
it was a very successful event for all concerned. |

14th October 2009 Member, Janet Parr held a Coffee morning at
her home to raise money for NSPCC.
Janet and her family worked very hard to make this event
successful with stalls, raffle and light refreshments. Their
hard work "paid off" - they raise in excess of £1000 for this very
worth while cause, well done! |

17th/18th October Thoresby Craft Fair - this event is a major
fund raising activity for us, however as always we need to have a
day preparing before hand, here we are ticketing up the prizes for
the Tombola Stall Some photos of President Anne setting up the
display with the help of Christine Fretwell, Anne Holland and
Marjorie Zillwood. Other photos show helpers on the day here
with President Peter Harvey of Warsop , Shirebrook and District
Rotary Club and his wife Heather. This is always a good Public
Relations event as well as a good social event for all who get
involved. This year we made in excess of £850 for Rainbows
Children's Hospice. |

27th October 2009 District Overseas Rally at Long Eaton,
President Anne is joined here on the pink Cadillac sofa by
Overseas Officer for Warsop, Lesley Palmer and Vice President,
Christine Fretwell. |

28th October 2009 President Anne attended Kirkby-in-Ashfield's
60th Charter along with many members from Warsop Club. District
Chairman, Mary Pay and Association President, Pam Byford also
attended and are pictured here with Kirkby President, Lynda Moor.

8th November 2009 Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph
President Anne along with President Peter Harvey of Warsop,
Shirebrook and District Rotary Club attended the Remembrance Day
March through Warsop and laid a wreath on the Cenotaph. |

Peter Harvey brought greetings from the Rotary Club of Warsop,
Shirebrook and District.
The Speaker was Colin Alderson who gave us an insight into Life
in the Palace Kitchens.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Vice President, Christine
Fretwell, afterwards Christine presented Anne with a basket of
flowers.
The vote of Thanks for the Visitors was given by President
Rosemary Wilson from Mansfield Inner Wheel Club.
Closing remarks by President Anne to thank everyone who had
supported the event and had had an enjoyable evening.

12th November 2009 Laxton Village Hall was the venue for
Sherwood Forest's Club's Candle Evening. President Anne
enjoyed the evening along with many other members of Warsop Inner
Wheel |

2nd December 2009 President Anne and 28 members celebrated the
festive season with a fabulous meal at Launeys Restaurant,
Edwinstowe |

Wednesday 9th December 2009 President Anne and many members of
Warsop Inner Wheel walked from the home of member Janet Parr,
around Walesby and had lunch at the Carpenters Arms.

17th December2009 President Anne attended an informal flower
arranging workshop at Langwith Bassett Village hall where Inner
Wheel members Marjorie Zillwood and Christine Fretwell
demonstrated Christmas arrangements, and what a good job Anne made
of them!! |

2010 The meeting in January at the Hostess restaurant was
cancelled due to bad weather.

18th January 2010 Overseas Organiser
Lesley Palmer held a very successful World Inner Wheel Day Knit
and Natter for our overseas projects and this was very well
supported by many club members.
|
|
|
30th January 2010 Our World Inner Wheel Event on 9th January was
cancelled due to bad weather.
To celebrate World Inner Wheel Day members of the club attended
Langwith Bassett Community Hall for a social evening and quiz with
an international theme.
Vice President Christine Fretwell and her husband, John,
organised the extremely enjoyable event filled with fun, laughter
and fabulous food. The international cuisine was provided by
volunteer members with John and Christine hosting the quiz. |

3rd February 2010 Speaker Diane Smith came to our February
meeting and gave us a light-hearted talk into the early part of
Queen Victoria life.
Diane bought along some books and also two Victorian costumes
to show us - one of which I unsuccessfully modelled!!! Obviously
smaller waists were fashionable in those days!! |

10th February 2010 Overseas Inter-club Afternoon Tea.
President Anne welcomed approx 90 members and guests to the
afternoon tea held at Oakland's Centre Warsop to raise money for
the District Charity "Riders for Health"
District Overseas Officer, Ann Cottee, lit the candle for
International and gave us a brief insight into this charity.
The Reverend Paul Lawlor, Curate of the Church of St. Peter and
St. Paul Warsop, gave a very informative talk on;
"Warsop to Malakal"
The vote of thanks was given to Paul by Marjorie Zillwood and
the vote of thanks for the visitors was give by Shirley Isard of
Sherwood Forest Inner Wheel Club.
This very social event raised the fabulous amount of £681 to be
sent to "Riders for Health" Charity. |
